The FAQ
Do you photograph weddings during the day too?
Yes! While I specialize in night photography, I capture full wedding days from the first light to the last dance. Whether it's golden hour portraits, a candlelit ceremony, or an electric after-dark reception, I ensure every moment is beautifully documented.
How do we get the moody vibe if our wedding is in a sunny month like July?
Moody photography is all about lighting, angles, and editing, not just the time of year! I use creative lighting, shaded areas, and strategic exposure techniques to keep the images cinematic and rich—whether it’s a summer wedding or a winter elopement. Nighttime portraits, off-camera flash, and indoor lighting also add drama, no matter the season.
We often will rent darker spaces, like Telus Spark or a studio with a black backdrop to get that moody effect when it's a bright sunny July day.
Do you travel?
Yes! I have been to Iceland, Joshua Tree, Scotland, Hawaii, Mexico and all over Canada for weddings.
Can you capture both day and night moments at our wedding?
Yes! Many couples want the best of both worlds—natural light portraits during the day and dramatic, moody shots after dark. I craft a timeline that allows for stunning moments in every lighting condition. If night portraits are a must, we’ll plan for them at the perfect time.
What if it rains or the weather is bad during our night portraits?
Moody weather makes for incredible photos! Light rain, mist, or overcast skies can actually enhance the mood. If the conditions are extreme, I always have backup plans—whether it’s using a covered location, incorporating the elements artistically, or shifting night portraits indoors for a creative take.
When do we get our wedding photos back?
You’ll receive a sneak peek within a few days of your wedding, with the full gallery delivered at your 2 month wedding anniversary.
Is there a better season or date for star photos?
Yes! The best time for starry wedding portraits is when the moon is at its lowest phase (New Moon) and away from city lights. The clearest skies tend to be in winter and early fall, but summer nights can also work in the right location. If you're dreaming of Northern Lights wedding photos, late fall to early spring (September–March) gives you the best chance.
Do you work with a second photographer?
Sometimes. I have a talented team available to come along to larger weddings or ones where a second shooter is needed.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, I carry full liability insurance for all weddings and events. Many venues require photographers to be insured, so you’re covered when booking with me.
Will you help with planning?
Absolutely! Since night photography requires a unique approach, I work closely with you to curate your timeline and ensure we have the perfect window for after-dark portraits.
If you’re working with a planner, I’ll collaborate with them to provide key night photography details that will help shape the timeline. This way, we can seamlessly integrate moody, cinematic portraits into your wedding day without disrupting the flow of events.
